STORYLINE

Farinia – Snow on the Atlantic tells the story of drug trafficking in Galicia through the figure of Sito Miñanco, the Galician kingpin of drug trafficking.

This is the story of the rise and fall of an ‘anti-hero’. Born into a seafaring family, he becomes a boatman for cigarette smuggling. Little by little, he works his way up and establishes his own business. His ambition leads him to constantly explore new frontiers, so he ends up becoming a cocaine smuggler, establishing links with the Cali cartel. He is the only great capo of the Galician drug smuggling mafia who manages to stay out of prison during the Nécora Operation, the first large police operation against drug trafficking in Galicia. A respected man within the drug trafficking community, he has the loyalty of his people, for he never betrays them if they are caught by the police. A notorious womanizer, his extreme ambition eventually will land him in jail. His business was temporarily interrupted when he was sent to jail, but by no means was that the end of the story, for he is still alive and kicking these days. A judge banished Sito Miñanco from Galicia, but he still continues pulling the strings of drug smuggling from prison.

Farinia – Snow on the Atlantic is gritty story, a realistic, stark chronicle whose main points of reference are projects like Gomorra and Roma Criminale. With ambition-driven characters who do not hesitate to use violence, it is a story of reformed criminals, sellout judges, journalists and mothers of drug-addicts. The story of the time when Galicia almost became a new Sicily.
