22 July 1921. The Battle of Annual (Morocco) turns into one of the Spanish Army’s worst military defeats. The number of convalescing soldiers is so great that hospitals cannot keep up and the Queen decides to intervene.
A group of nursing Ladies, led by Carmen de Angoloti (the Duchess of Victoria) leaves the capital city. Their destination: the front. Their mission: to save lives. These are women from the nation’s upper aristocracy, nursing Ladies who give up a life of luxury to fulfill their duty… all but one; Julia. Desperate over the lack of news about her boyfriend and fiancé, Julia decides to set sail for Melilla without qualifications, passage or her family’s knowledge. All in the hope of finding both her brother and her fiancé alive.
But an easy road does not await them. These young aristocrats will have to quickly adapt to the mechanisms of war, to internal struggles within the hospital and to differences in social class, while they show what they are worth, saving the lives of soldiers wounded in combat.
